SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell opted to bring goalkeeper Nathan Bishop back into the starting line-up at Sunderland.
Bishop replaced Mark Oxley between the sticks.
And Campbell was impressed by the how the 20-year-old performed in the 1-0 defeat at the Stadium of the Light.
"I’m looking at all options and Nathan made some good saves," said Campbell.
"The main thing for me was that he made good decisions.
"That’s the key for me, playing safe and playing easy.
"You don’t need to complicate things, you need to play safe and build your confidence.
"Once the confidence comes in through the goalkeeper it reverberates into the team.
"We’re not giving the opposition little 'gimmies' and balls hanging around the box.
"We’re clearing the box and starting again.
"It’s all about making the right decisions and Nathan has done that here.
"He couldn’t do much about the goal but everything else he’s done alright."
