ECHOSPORT talks to Portsmouth fan Joe Robbins ahead of tonight’s game at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth are 15th in the League One table right now, so what have you made of the season so far?

“The season so far has been extremely frustrating.

“The football on show has been pretty poor and we just haven’t got going.”

What were the hopes at the start of the season?

“The aim was for automatic promotion and nothing else.

“Losing in the play-offs last year was disappointing so the aim was to definitely go one better this season.”

Why do you feel things haven’t gone as well as expected for Portsmouth so far?

“The quality of football has just been extremely poor.

“There’s been no real urgency or pace through the team and some pretty negative tactics. We concede a heck of a lot of late goals which have ultimately cost us around six points.

“We lost our two best players in the summer and invested quite heavily but so far it’s not paid off.”

Who is the dangerman?

“John Marquis is an obvious threat up front. He hasn’t quite hit the back of the net as much as he’d like this season, but his record is superb and he’s due a run of goals. Marcus Harness, if he plays, along with Ryan Williams and Ronan Curtis on the wings could provide the creativity.”

What’s the team news?

“The last two games have seen us unchanged and I don’t believe there’s any fresh injury doubts. I’d maybe freshen it up slightly and play Harness instead of Williams.

“But apart from that I can’t see much changing.”
