A WHOLE host of Southend United legends will be attending the launch of the Shrimpers’ ‘Hall of Fame’ later this month.

The club, in association with the Southend United ex-players association and the Shrimpers Trust, have invited 11 star names to the evening which is being held at the Park Inn by Radisson Palace on Friday, November 22.

Blues greats including Billy Best, Mervyn Cawston, Roy McDonough, Kevin Maher, Steve Tilson, Frankie Banks, David Crown, Paul Clark, Paul Brush, Peter Taylor and Ron Pountney will attend the event, subject to availability.

The star-studded line-up, who amassed more than 2,000 appearances for the club between them, will be the first contingent to be named in the new Hall of Fame, with other favourites to be added on an annual basis.

Tickets are now on sale for the event and Blues’ head of commercial Rhys Ellingham is certain it will be a night to remember.

“A lot of work has gone into this from the ex-players association and the Shrimpers Trust and it will be great to see so many club legends there too,” said Ellingham.

“It really should be a great evening and hopefully the first of many throughout the years.”

Included in the evening will be a drinks reception, a two-course meal, half a bottle of wine per person, tea and coffee, live entertainment, a question and answer session with the players, plus a raffle and an auction.

Tickets are priced at £54 and for more details contact the commercial department on 01702 304147 or email commercial@southend-united.co.uk
