TIMOTHEE Dieng looks set to remain as Southend United's captain.
The Frenchman wore the armband against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night, despite previous captain Mark Milligan returning to the team.
But Blues boss Sol Campbell believes Dieng is the right man for the job.
"Everyone has different ideas about captains and some people get a bit hot under the collar about it," said Campbell.
"For me I wanted some consistency and Timothee has done really well since I’ve been here.
"I feel he’s the right man for the job."
Dieng has started all five of Campbell's games in charge at the heart of a back five and he took over as captain for Sunday's FA Cup first round defeat at Dover Athletic.
The 27-year-old joined the Shrimpers in the summer of 2018 and has made 59 appearances for the club.
