SOUTHEND United boss Sol Campbell stressed it was now a squad game after explaining his decision to drop Simon Cox.
For the first time since August 2018, Cox has been on the bench for two successive games.
But Campbell explained it was to keen to utilise other options.
“It’s a squad game," said Campbell.
"We have a lot of games and we have to utilise the whole squad.”
Cox has been Blues' top scorer for the past three seasons and scored twice so far this season.
However, the striker could earn a recall against Rotherham United this weekend with Tom Hopper doubtful after having stitches on a deep cut on his ankle.
