BRANDON Goodship wants to start enjoying his improved form by helping Southend United get back to winning ways this weekend.

Goodship – who is expected to start against Rotherham United at Roots Hall tomorrow – has two goals and two assists in his last six appearances.

But Blues’ wretched run of results means Goodship has taken little joy from his own contribution.

“I’ve been pleased with my form, the goals and the assists and hope there are more to come but I’d swap them all for the wins and points we need to get out of this mess we’re in,” said Goodship.

“The results are what matters most and I’d certainly be enjoying the goals a lot more if we were winning games.

“That’s what we have to start doing because we’ve got ourselves into this and it’s only us who can get ourselves out of it too.”

Blues sit second from bottom in the League One standings, 11 points from safety.

And Goodship was particularly hurt by Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at Bristol Rovers in a game Sol Campbell’s side led 2-0 at half-time.

“It was so frustrating and we were so disheartened and furious at the end because this means so much to us,” said Goodship.

“We can’t afford to keep our heads down though and we have to look at the first 45 minutes which I think is the best we’ve played this season.

“We dominated a strong side and if we can perform like that from now on we’re going to be beating teams. That’s the way we have to look at things and we’ve been working hard in training this week so hopefully we can perform for the full 90 minutes against Rotherham.”

However, Goodship - who has been playing wide right - knows it will be a tough test.

“They’re a strong side,” he added.
