SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell does not feel the Shrimpers are facing a make or break spell in their season.

Blues’ next five games are all against teams in the bottom seven of the League One standings.

But Campbell feels his side must pick up points from the majority of their remaining matches.

“I understand the importance of the games but I understand the importance of all of the games and we have to pick up points in all of the games,” said Campbell.

“I’m not just going to look at certain games and target them because I don’t want to be like that.

“The second you start picking and choosing your games it all goes wrong.

“If we looked at the importance of the Bolton game we could’ve looked to save energy against Rotherham but you don’t know what’s going to happen.

“For me, I go for it in every single game and we have to pick up points home and away which is what we are starting to do.”

The Shrimpers, who are second from bottom in the table, drew 2-2 with Rotherham United at Roots Hall on Saturday.

But Blues remain 10 points from safety and Campbell is determined to close that gap.

“We want to start getting closer to the other teams and every point is important for us,” said Campbell.

“But it doesn’t matter if they come against teams at the top or teams at the bottom.

“Obviously it’s good to nick points off the teams around you, you don’t need to tell me that but we have to get points from all off the teams.

“Yes, it helps if we can get points from the teams around us but we have to get points from everywhere as our first target is fourth from bottom.”

Blues make the long trip to bottom of the table Bolton Wanderers this weekend before hosting MK Dons, who are also in the relegation zone, at Roots Hall on Boxing Day.
