RONNIE Henry insists he has no regrets about joining Billericay Town in the summer.

Since departing Stevenage – where he is regarded as a club legend – in favour of a switch to New Lodge, Henry has been appointed club captain, seen Jamie O’Hara replace Harry Wheeler in the hotseat and Town boast new owners following Glenn Tamplin’s exit in September.

But the central defender insists he is loving life with the National League South club.

Henry said: “I have really enjoyed my time at the club so far.

“I came into the club under the old manager and with the former owner.

“It was a bit up-and-down after that, but I kept myself focused on playing football and doing all I can for the football club.

“I have done that and shown what I am worth.

“There have been plenty of highs and lows already, but we had a good run in the FA Cup before that came to an end at Forest Green Rovers, which was not the greatest of draws for us.

“We have also gone out of the FA Trophy, but the league is our priority.”

Henry is set to skipper Billericay when 15th-placed Oxford City make the trip to New Lodge for a National League South clash tomorrow.

Just goal difference separated the two sides ahead of the weekend, with Billericay currently finding themselves in 14th spot.

But Henry insists his target remains bagging a play-off place come the end of the season.

“For me, on a personal level, getting into the play-offs is a minimum target,” added the 35-year-old.

“Looking at the league, players we have and staff, we can’t aim lower than the play-offs.

“We have great quality at the club and finishing any lower than the play-off places would be a disappointment.”

Following Wheeler’s sacking as manager in September – just 24 hours before Tamplin confirmed he was stepping away as owner of Billericay – O’Hara was handed his first managerial position.

And Henry is impressed with how O’Hara has adapted to life in the dugout.

“Jamie has been really good,” confirmed Henry.

“It was a difficult job to take with everything going on off the pitch.

“There was a bit of uncertainty at the club after the former owner left but Jamie has focused on the games and given us a clear way of playing.

“He wants us to play in the right way and, when we do that, we do very well.”
