CONCORD Rangers could take over third place on goal difference if they can overcome one of their main challengers for honours, Barkingside, in tonight's key Essex Senior League fixture at Thames Road.

The Canvey side are in a rich vein of form at the moment, particularly striker Danny Heale, who has scored two hat-tricks in five days.

But they may find it tough against a Barkingside outfit who had a 100 per cent league record until losing 3-2 at leaders Enfield 1893 on Saturday.

Barkingside are currently fourth and Concord fifth, both with 18 points tallies. But tonight's visitors have a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

After the sorting out of qualifying groups, the quarter-final knockout draws have now been made for the League Cup with ties over two legs being played on December 8 and January 12.

Enfield 1893 take on Romford with Concord Rangers meeting Southend Manor. Eton Manor meet Burnham Ramblers and Saw-bridgeworth take on Barking.

Burnham complete their Group B programme at home to Mauritius Sports & Pennant tonight, but the tie will have no impact on the final table.

In the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy quarter-finals - single match affairs with no replays - ties, with dates in brackets, are as follows: Concord v Barking (November 24), Mauritius Sports v Eton Manor (November 27), Enfield 1893 v Romford (to be confirmed), Sawbridgeworth v Southend Manor (November 24).

Southend Manor bid for victory in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup, sponsored by Fans Focus, tonight when they visit Ryman One North Waltham Forest.

Also in the Senior Cup tonight, Blue Square Premier Grays host South side Braintree, now managed by ex-East Thurrock boss Lee Patterson.

Aveley are in a local derby at Rookery Hill against Premier side East Thurrock United, but Millers' Division One North rivals Tilbury, who were due to host Premier side AFC Hornchurch, will not now be in action as the Urchins are involved in an FA Trophy second qualifying round replay visit to Northwood.

GREAT Wakering Rovers visit Division One North rivals Ilford in the Senior Cup tomorrow night and the fourth round draw also goes ahead tomorrow, shortly after 4.30pm, on BBC Essex with Billericay boss Matt Jones doing the honours.

WHITE Ensign will take over second place in the LFC Insurance Group Essex Olympian League Premier Division if they beat local rivals Benfleet at Eastwoodbury Lane tonight (7.45pm).
