SOL Campbell believes crisis club Macclesfield Town can avoid going out of business.

Blues boss Campbell kept the Silkmen in League Two last season but they now face an uncertain future with players going on strike after not being paid.

Macclesfield’s game against Plymouth was also called off at the weekend after the club were served a ‘zero capacity notice’ at Moss Rose.

But Campbell is confident Macclesfield will not follow in the footsteps of Bury, who were expelled from the EFL at the start of the season amid their own financial concerns.

“I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes but it’s a great club,” said Campbell.

“There’s more than enough suitors out there who would like to have that club because it’s a nice area and I’m sure there are wealthy people in that region of Cheshire so I’m sure something can happen.”

Campbell is reported to be pushing for money he is still owed from his own spell with Macclesfield.

But the former England international does not feel his own issue is the Silkmen’s main priority.

“My situation is not the problem if you look at it,” said Campbell.

“If you look at the whole scenario my situation is not the problem.”

Macclesfield have also been deducted six points and sit 22nd in League Two.
