CONCORD Rangers registered a fifth consecutive victory as they sealed a 4-1 National League South win over Billericay Town.

Although former Beach Boys striker Femi Akinwande’s deflected free-kick cancelled out Themis Kefalas’ early own goal, second half efforts from Aron Pollock, James Blanchfield and Joel Nouble allowed the hosts to come out on top at the Aspect Arena and claim local bragging rights.

The Beach Boys got off to a perfect start as they took the lead inside three minutes.

Jack Paxman was dispossessed close to the corner flag and Huddersfield Town loanee Kit Elliott used his trickery to great affect before his pass across the face of goal was turned into the back of his own net by Kefalas.

Kreshnic Krasniqi, who was facing his former club, then fired wide after fine wing play by Nouble as Concord continued to enjoy more possession.

Billericay’s first meaningful opportunity saw Ody Alfa send a curling attempt wide after Akinwande drove forward.

Kefalas then could not divert his effort on target despite being found by Josh Urquhart’s deep free-kick.

Akinwande was the next Billericay man to try his luck and his long range drive skidded inches past the post.

However, Akinwande was not to be denied a goal against his former club.

Krasniqi conceded a free-kick by bundling Alfa over and he was punished as Akinwande’s free-kick deflected into the bottom corner of the net 10 minutes before the break.

Ex-Concord striker Akinwande went in search of more goals and forced goalkeeper Chris Haigh into a fine save before seeing his rebound effort cleared off the goal-line by Southend United loanee Tom Clifford.

However, the Beach Boys restored their lead within two minutes of the second half’s resumption.

Nouble found a way past Billericay defender Oran Jackson and, after some penalty area pinball, Pollock converted from close range.

Although Billericay goalkeeper Alan Julian did well to smother an Elliott attempt after the striker had gone through on goal, Concord extended their advantage with 63 minutes on the clock thanks to Blanchfield rounding off a fine move by slotting home.

And Nouble added his name to the scoresheet 10 minutes later after finding the bottom corner of the net.

Neither side was able to create any more clear-cut opportunities and Danny Scopes’ Concord secured all three points.
