BRADWELL, Mersea, Canvey, Southend, Two Tree and Crouch Boats fishing with Boycarl and Cloudnine had skate and cod to 5lbs, whiting, pouting dabs and loads of doggies.

There was also an unconfirmed report of a very large cod being caught in the Wallet.

Southend Pier Head produced a few codling plus whiting dabs, dogfish and bass, with most taking lug and large ragworm.

At Thorpe Bay, the West Beach was the top spot, along with the right hand side of the glass shelter as far as the Roslin Hotel.

Those areas were good for schoolies, eels, whiting and codling on the night tide.

Micky Reason made use of the conditions to land a codling of 1 3/4lbs at the Austine Steps using king ragworm with a long-flowing trace.

Conditions were similar at Westcliff and Chalkwell, where the occasional flounder was also landed.

The East Beach was popular with bass and whiting as well as the odd mullet.

The Barge Pier was awash with bass, codling and whiting caught on ragworm and frozen peeler.

Fambridge was the place to be for bass, codling and eels, while Wallasea Island took in bass, codling, whiting and dabs galore.

Meanwhile, the Canvey Deep Water Marks were the place to be for codling and whiting.

Further north, Clacton and Walton piers and beachers were producing plenty of cod and whiting, with lug and squid being the bait of choice.

On Clacton Pier, large ragworm was pulling in plenty of codling, while there was also consistent fishing to be had from Offord Island with some nice codling, dabs and doggies coming in.

Felixstowe and Harwich were popular with codling too.
