MAC Duaibe felt Rochford Hundred formed a ‘deadly combination’ in their dominant 59-7 win against Bedford Athletic.

Rochford ran riot at Magnolia Road to move to within a point of London & SE Premier Division leaders Guernsey.

And Duaibe - who was among Rochford’s try scorers - was delighted with the display.

“The score sums it up,” said Duaibe.

“It was just a deadly combination as both the backs and forwards combined so well during the game. I wish I was in the crowd because some of the rugby being played was so good.

“We could not have wished for a better start after Christmas.

“But, honestly, you would not have guessed we had just had a two-week break. Coming back to that score was awesome and a great boost for the lads for next week, which is on everyone’s lips.”

Rochford - who are pushing for a third successive promotion - make the long trip to Guernsey on Saturday.

And Duaibe is fully aware how important the top of the table clash could prove to be.

“Guernsey away will be a tough game and everyone in our league knows that,” said Duaibe.

“But, with the top three contenders still in competition, Saturday is a must win and all the boys know this. So this week will be hard but it’s needed for Saturday’s preparation as we want to come back with a massive win.”

Third-placed Wimbledon, who are also in the race for the title, lost 24-16 at Sevenoaks on Saturday.

But Duaibe is desperate for Rochford to avoid any more setbacks of their own.

“We can’t afford to lose anymore games this season if we want to stabilise ourselves at the top of the league,” said the powerful number eight.

“We will take each games as it comes but our ambition is to get this club promoted.”

Damien Brambley bagged a brace while Adam Ferrier, Sam Fombo, Chris Shields, Chris Dudman and Will Ferrier also touched down along with Duaibe.
