STEVE Butterworth admits Maldon & Tiptree will need to have a bad day at the office if Great Wakering Rovers are to seal all three points tomorrow.
Maldon are the Isthmian North leaders and have yet to suffer an away defeat this season.
But Butterworth hopes can spring a surprise.
“We have got to hope they have an off day and we have a good day,” said the Wakering player-manager.
“I think we’re looking forward to the challenge and it’s an opportunity to test ourselves against one of the best teams to have played at this level.
“Maldon haven’t lost away from home this season, so it would be great if we can end that run.”
While Maldon head to Burroughs Park sitting top of the division, Wakering are in the Isthmian North play-off places.
And Butterworth, who is looking to bring in ‘one or two players’ before the weekend, is pleased with the position Wakering are in.
“Over the last four games, Maldon are top of the form guide and we are second,” added Butterworth.
“It shows how far we have come and we’re in the play-offs, which is where we want to be.
“Attendances have been going up with us doing well, so that is another big positive for the club.”
