FORMER Southend United stars Ryan Cresswell and Ryan Leonard will both be back at Roots Hall tomorrow for Blues’ pre-match tribute to Chris Barker.

The ex-Shrimpers skipper died on New Year’s Eve aged just 39.

And the club will be remembering the former defender before Saturday’s clash with Tranmere Rovers gets underway.

A minute’s silence will also be held before the game kicks off and the club are encouraging supporters to hold a minute’s applause in the 39th minute.

Before the silence starts, Cresswell and Leonard - who were both close with Barker after playing alongside him at Blues - will walk out onto the pitch along with Ben Clarkson.

The club physiotherapist was also close to Barker who played for the Shrimpers between 2010 and 2013, making 142 appearances.

Barker captained the Shrimpers at Wembley for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final against Crewe Alexandra in 2013 but also lined up for a number of other clubs.

Blues defender John White lined up alongside Barker for Colchester United and will join the others in laying flowers and a special canvas print before kick-off.

Fans have been asked to arrive early.
