TODD Bailey has warned his Rochford Hundred team-mates to keep their feet on the ground.

Rochford returned to the top of the London & SE Premier Division table after winning 19-13 at promotion rivals Guernsey last time out.

But Bailey knows Hundred cannot afford to get carried away.

“Our only concern is to think we have our hands on promotion already,” said Bailey.

“We really cannot afford any more slip ups like we did against CS Stags earlier in the season.

“To be fair we have moved on as a team since then so I don’t think we will.”

Rochford dug deep to win in Guernsey.

And prop forward Bailey was thrilled to pick up the points.

“The game on Saturday was a hell of a game to be involved in,” said Bailey.

“We played exactly the way we knew we could and that we needed to play to beat them.

“We were in control the whole match and the result was never in doubt throughout.”

The victory put Rochford two points clear at the top of the table and Bailey felt it was a hugely significant victory.

“It was hugely important,” said Bailey.

“Leading up to it we obviously didn’t want to build it up too much but I think everyone knew deep down a win over there would probably mean a top two finish in April.

“It was also great for the team to have a weekend together, we are lucky to have the opportunity to go over and do something like that so to get the win made it that much better.”

But Rochford will now be looking to build on the victory when they host eighth placed Sidcup at Magnolia Road.

“Sidcup were a decent team when we played them away,” said Bailey.

“They are very quick over the ball.

“But if we are at the races each week from now on there shouldn’t be a team that causes us too much hassle.”
