THE first thing noticeable at Thorpe Hall currently is the excellent condition of the greens and fairways.

The ground is a bit soft, which is natural for this time of year, but the course is being much enjoyed by the members.

This was particularly true over the weekend when the men staged the November Stableford and Medal.

David Peters won the Stableford Division One with 40 points off three handicap and had his allowance reduced to two.

He has given the club sterling support over the centenary year - in competitions, team matches and with working parties tidying the course.

His help has been much appreciated and captain Graham Easton has already recognised his value to Thorpe Hall by presenting him with the Kent Cannon at the annual prizegiving supper on Friday.

This award is for the golfer who, in the opinion of the the captain, past, present and future, has done most for the club, both on and off the course.

In second place, was David Snowdon, another regular winner, with 39 points off 11.

Julian Tite, off 16 , won the Division Two competition with 42 points and has been reduced to 14 handicap.

Jamie Beadle, off 13 handicap, was second with 40 points and was reduced to 12.

This put Beadle into Division One, so he entered the November medal on Sunday in this category and won it with a net 67 off 12.

He deserves every congratulation on such an unusual achievement.

Second in the Division One medal, also with net 67 off six, was Simon Garner, on countback from Ray Hooker, off 8.

Norman Valentine was the winner of the Division Two medal, with a net 64 off 19, now 17, and runner-up was Les Lesser, on countback from Julian Tite the latter having a net 70 off 23.

>FOLLOWING their success in the Summer Foursomes at Lord's Golf and Country Club (Rayleigh) the father and son partnership of Sid and George Williamson continued their winning streak.

Their latest triumph was in the fourball better ball competition the latter sinking a birdie at the last hole to take the match and completing the round with a gross score of one over In the medal competition on Saturday it was on form Steve Vann who took the DivisionOne title ahead of Bob Perry.

The Division Two title went to Len Fordham ahead of Keith Simpson On Sunday it was the turn of Gary Munday to take the Division One honours ahead of Pete Pearcey the Division .Two title went to Neil Kay ahead of Andy Graham.
