DANNY Scopes has called on Concord Rangers to get back to winning ways and avoid going on another lengthy run without bagging three points.

The Beach Boys head to 14th-placed Eastbourne Borough tomorrow having suffered back-to-back National League South defeats.

Concord were beaten six times on the bounce between September and October and Scopes insists his side cannot afford to go on a similar winless run.

“I don’t think our recent performances have been bad,” said Beach Boys boss Scopes.

“Although we didn’t deserve anything from the game against Hampton & Richmond Borough, I thought we should have got something out of the game against Weymouth last weekend.

“We are coming out of games on the wrong side of scorelines at the moment and it’s important that we start to put points on the board again.

“The league is so tight and, although we are 11th, we are only seven points off seventh and eight points above the bottom two.

“A run of good results could send us right up the table, whereas a poor spell could put us around the bottom of the league.”

Concord won the reverse fixture against Eastbourne 5-0, but Borough have suffered just two defeats at Priory Lane since the end of September.

And Scopes will be unable to call upon Ryan Gondoh, after the winger departed for Whyteleafe.

“Ryan wanted to play but he came back from injury when we were in good form,” added Scopes.

“It was best for all parties for him to go and play games but he is on dual-registration terms.”
