SOL Campbell does not feel Southend United have a score to settle against Doncaster Rovers tonight.

The Shrimpers were thrashed 7-1 by Rovers at Roots Hall in October just hours after Campbell had been appointed as manager.

But Campbell - who watched on from the stands that night - does not feel that defeat will be in the minds of his players this evening.

“I don’t think there’s a score to settle,” said the former England international.

“That’s a sideline really.

“It’s about performing well and seeing if we can get a result.

“We can’t afford to worry about settling scores.

“We just have to focus on this game and getting a result.”

However, Campbell expects Doncaster to be stern opposition once again.

Rovers are currently 10th in the League One standings.

And Campbell has been impressed by their play.

“They’re a great side and they move the ball quickly,” said Campbell.

“We have to stand up to that movement and rotation and stand up to the one on one duals.

“We’ve got to set our stall out properly and when we get a chance we have to penetrate and go for it.”

Rovers could hand a debut to new signing Devante Cole, the son of Shrimpers striking coach Andy.

But Campbell is focusing on the whole team.

“It’s all good,” said the 45-year-old.

“We’re looking forward to getting out there again after the Accrington win and winning our battles all over the pitch.

“Everyone is working very hard, team spirit is very high and we want to keep this unbeaten run we’re on going.

“We have to re-organise ourselves again but I think we’re in good shape and we’ll be ready.”
