BILLERICAY Town player-manager Jamie O’Hara is adamant he is not looking any further ahead than tonight’s Essex Senior Cup quarter-final with Grays Athletic.

The draw for the semi-finals of the competition was made last week, with the winners of the tie hosting Waltham Abbey for a place in the final.

However, O’Hara is concentrating on doing battle with Isthmian North outfit Grays at Parkside and knows his side must improve defensively after conceding cheap goals in the 3-3 National League South draw with Tonbridge Angels.

“We’ve got to beat Grays first and that’s all we will concentrate on,” said O’Hara.

“Grays are a good side and we need to address the problems we have got at the back.

“We’ve got to address the situation because it can’t continue with the way we’re playing.

“We can’t play as well as we did against Tonbridge and come away with a 3-3 draw.

“The league is tight but every game we’re involved in ends 3-3, 4-4 or 3-2. It’s not good enough.”

The Essex Senior Cup represents the first piece of silverware O’Hara could win since moving into management in September.

O’Hara won the county crown during his initial spell with Billericay in 2018.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who replaced Harry Wheeler in the hotseat a month into the current campaign, also got his hands on the Isthmian League Cup and Isthmian Premier League title as Town won the treble less than 24 months ago.

And O’Hara is eager to enjoy success in the dugout.

“I would love to get to the final and it’s a competition I want to win,” added O’Hara.

“But we need to beat Grays first.”
