BILLERICAY Town defender David McSweeney has a score to settle with Swansea City this weekend.

For last time the 25-year-old faced the Welshmen - during his spell with Southend United - he was one of three players sent off in a memorable 3-2 triumph at Vetch Field in December 2003.

But he is hoping for a less eventful afternoon on Saturday.

"Hopefully I'll stay on the pitch a bit longer this time," said McSweeney, who can play at both right back and centre back.

"It was quite eventful but the game this Saturday could be just as exciting because we always seem to play better against the better teams."

McSweeney, who made 91 appearances while with the Shrimpers, is also confident of being fit to face the Swans, despite picking up a dead leg in the previous round of the competition against Folkestone Invicta.

"The injury has taken a long time to get better but I think it will be fine for the weekend," he said.

"There is a real buzz around the team ahead of the game and we're all very excited, so nobody wants to have to miss out."

The odds are firmly stacked against Matt Jones' men as they attempt to shock the League One side.

But McSweeney knows the Swans will not be relishing their trip to New Lodge.

"I know what it is like because when we were at Southend we never liked going to the non-league teams in the cup," he said.

"You have nothing to gain and everything to lose and they will be the ones under pressure, so that will work in our favour.

"They are an excellent team though so it's going to be very hard for us but I'm confident we can give them a game and get a good result against them."
