TOTTENHAM Hotspur and Sunderland both had deadline day bids for Southend United striker Charlie Kelman rejected, Echosport understands.

Kelman bagged Blues’ first goal in Sol Campbell’s side’s 2-1 win against Lincoln City at Roots Hall on Saturday just hours after chairman Ron Martin had knocked back the bids.

Kelman came through the ranks at Roots Hall and has scored seven goals in 23 first team matches.

Blues also opted to turn down an offer, which was also six figures, for Stephen Humphrys which was made by a League One club on deadline day.
