SOUTHEND United are in advanced talks with former Macclesfield Town duo Theo Vassell and Emmanuel Osadebe.

Both players travelled with the Shrimpers to Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.

And Blues chairman Ron Martin has confirmed the club remain in discussions with the two transfer targets.

“We are now in advanced talks with the agents of both players targeted by Sol,” said Martin.

“Let’s see where those discussions end up this week.”

Vassell, 23, lines up at centre-back while Osadebe is an attacking midfielder.

But Blues manager Sol Campbell claimed not to know why the deals were not completed before the weekend.

“I’m confused and perplexed,” said Campbell.
