Stuart Bingham continued his stellar start to the year with another victory at the ManBetX Welsh Open.

The Basildon potter, who was crowned king of the Alexandra Palace after winning the Dafabet Masters last month, eased past China’s Chen Feilong in round two at the Motorpoint Arena, winning 4-1 after finding some of most fluent cueing in Cardiff.

The world number 14 raced into a 1-0 lead as his 64 points in frame one went unanswered, before a second-frame break of 55 gave him the perfect platform.

But he was pegged back by Feilong’s reply of 64, threatening parity as the 43-year-old vied to book a round three clash with Yan Bingtao.

Bingham then found his majestic best, however, crafting a fine fourth-frame 110 to regain his advantage and place in him on the cusp of progression.

And a fifth-frame 99 continued his march, seeing off Feilong and teeing up a tough-looking third round match with the world No.20.

Bingham will take on Bingtao at 2.30pm on Thursday where he will be bidding to make amends for his first round Coral Grand Prix defeat and find the sort of form that saw him waltz to the Masters trophy on January 19.
