SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell is mulling over who to select between the sticks against Gillingham tomorrow night.

Blues' first choice Mark Oxley is facing a spell on the sidelines with a thigh problem.

And Campbell will therefore look to bring in a replacement on loan or hand a first start to either Callum Taylor or Harry Seaden.

"We can get a player but it’s so late in the day now," said Campbell.

"We will have to do some negotiating behind the scenes and hopefully we can.

"It’s not ideal but we should be able to sort ourselves out.

"The trouble is if we get someone in will obviously have to be a free wage wise but we are trying."

"If not we wiill utilise the academy."

And that means 18-year-old Taylor, who made his debut when coming on against Coventry on Saturday, is in contention to start while the fit-again Seaden could also be called upon.

"We have to now utilise the academy and there’s the possibility of Callum starting.

"The problems are coming thick and fast and it’s such a shame the way it’s happened.

"We’ve had injuries and players moving on.

"It’s pretty tough but we have to make the best out of it we can.

"But Harry Seaden is back now too.

"He’s up for it and could definitely started if needed.

"We’re OK for now and we just have to get on with it.
