SOUTHEND United's fans have their say on Tuesday night's 1-0  defeat to Gillingham.

Fairly even game, but every mistake is being punished. Shame about the miss at the end, but the kids did alright. Clifford is excellent. Would like to see a few more starts for Hutchinson though, as Kelman seems isolated and Isaac could play in the gap to link mid to attack.

@ObiWesKenobi

Relegation seems a formality at this point, so let’s look at the positives. Sol is making us competitive against good sides (Gills unbeaten in 12), and this was no different. Guys like Clifford and Miles are looking better by the week. Watching this team doesn’t feel a chore now.

@samgoody23

The young keeper’s inexperience and lack of striker options cost us. If these kids stay together this could be the start of something special. Unlucky to lose, did not deserve to.

@fatblokemarge

I think Dieng has been an unsung hero in the second half of this season, understandably took time to fit into the defensive role but has shown immense dedication since

@SteveShelsher Thought the young lads again held their own against and over physical Gills side with the better team actually losing. Clifford is going to be some player, so easily transitioned on the wing. This season it can’t get any worse as we say but certainly the refereeing can.

@wheeliosmaximus

I thought the Gills were poor and there for the taking. Sol doesn’t mix it up enough. Why didn’t we have a go second half, we have nothing to lose. In the 60th minute we should have been introducing Barratt to give Kelman support. Looks like we went 4-5-1 in the second half. That concerns me.

@TidburyG

Shame about the result but we’re actually competing again which is great to see. Would’ve liked to see a sub made earlier as Kyp was blowing after 55. If we’d got Rush on slightly earlier we may have snatched a draw, but despite the loss it’s just good to see a decent performance.

@Ljarvis27

Another game where the youngsters have really impressed with their passion,energy commitment.
