PATRIK Gunnarsson will remain with Southend United for Saturday's clash with Oxford United.
The Icelandic shot-stopper came in on an emergency loan from Brentford last week and made his debut in the 3-2 defeat against Burton Albion at Roots Hall.
But boss Sol Campbell has now confirmed the goalkeeper has extend his spell at the Shrimpers for a further seven days.
"Patrik will be involved again and he’s done really well," said Campbell.
"He couldn’t do too much about the goals and it’s a new player coming in to give us a bit of a lift.
"That’s what a player does.
"It trumps the rules that are in place at the moment and it’s quite nice to see a fresh face in the squad."
