ECHOSPORT talks to Oxford United fan Laurence Reade ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford are currently eighth in the League One table, just a point outside the play-offs, but what has been your take on the season so far?

“It’s a mixed bag. We’ve had runs in all the cups which was great.

“We got to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup before losing to Manchester City and the fourth round of the FA Cup where we narrowly lost to Newcastle United in extra-time after a replay.

“But the volume of games and injuries have undoubtedly hampered our promotion push.”

What are the hopes for the rest of the season?

“The play-offs for sure, after that who knows?

“We’re a point outside the play-offs at the moment but we’ve won the last three games and appear to be coming back into form.

“We’re seven points behind the top two at the moment but who knows what can happen during the run-in.”

There has been quite a lot of speculation surrounding the manager Karl Robinson this week. Blackpool had an approach for him turned down. Do you think this will affect the team at the weekend?

“No, we have a good manager, it’s not surprising other clubs want his services. Robinson lives locally and is happy here so I suspect it would take something exceptional to tempt him away from us.”

Who would you say is Oxford’s dangerman?

“An easy answer is to say Matty Taylor as he’s got 16 goals so far this season.

But I’d say James Henry, so much that we do well comes from him and he’s got 13 goals himself.”

What’s the team news for Saturday’s game?

“I can’t see us changing a winning side so it’s likely to be the same team that played against Accrington Stanley. The only possible change is that Nathan Holland, who we have on loan from West Ham United, might come in for the not-quite-fit George Thorne.”
