SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin insists he has not had any offers to buy the club.

Speaking on TalkSport yesterday, Shrimpers fan and comedian Terry Alderton claimed he knew a famous ex-footballer who was keen to take control of the League One club.

But Martin has not been contacted by any serious prospective buyers.

The chairman told Echosport: “The club receives approaches regularly, perhaps they are genuine, perhaps they are not.

“Either way there is no interest.”

Blues have endured a tough season in League One and head to Oxford United tomorrow on the back of five successive defeats.

Sol Campbell’s side are second from bottom in the standings.
