SOUTHEND United have triggered a clause in Elvis Bwomono's contract, Echosport understands.
The Shrimpers defender - who attracted interest from a Championship club in the January transfer window - has performed well this season winning four player of the month awards in succession.
And Blues have acted to keep him contracted to the club until the end of next season.
However, Bwomono's form means he is likely to be wanted elsewhere this summer.
