BEN Wells is determined to build on his loan spell with Concord Rangers, writes Euan Rourke.

The 20-year-old midfielder impressed while with the Beach Boys from Queens Park Rangers last term.

And Wells is keen to remain in first team football.

“Once we get back to some normality, I will want to get more men’s experience under my belt,” said Wells.

Concord was my first loan and I was a bit nervous but I felt like I took it in my stride and became a successful loan in which I benefitted a lot and also achieved which I thoroughly enjoyed.”

Wells made 15 appearances while at the Aspect Arena.

And he thoroughly enjoyed lining up in National League South.

“I really enjoyed my loan spell at Concord,” said Wells.

“They are a great bunch of lads and with a fantastic management team. I felt it was a successful loan too. I gained a lot of experience playing in a competitive League, but I am gutted we didn’t get to fulfil our cup ambitions in the FA Trophy.”

Concord are still waiting to find out if their FA Trophy semi-final tie with Halesowen will be played.

But Wells will forever be grateful for the backing of boss Danny Scopes.

“Scopsey and the management team were very beneficial with my time at Concord,” said Wells.

“Scopsey gave me the opportunity and confidence to show my ability on the pitch.

“He was very positive towards me and put a lot of faith in me to perform in, which personally I felt like I did.”
