SOUTHEND Saxons have completed a trio of new signings.

Centre Danny Higgins, winger Jack MacVeigh and back row Steven Walker have all joined the London One North side.

And Saxons’ director of rugby Josh Ward is thrilled to have brought them to Warners Bridge.

“We’re really pleased with the signings,” said Ward.

“It’s been a strange couple of months and recruitment has been slower than normal but it’s great to be able to announce the three signings.”

Higgins comes to the club having previously played for Brentwood, Colchester, Ealing Trailfinders under 23s and Woodford.

And Ward is certain he will make a big impact.

“Danny’s a versatile player with plenty of potential,” said Ward.

“He’s got a great attitude to learn and I’m confident under our staff and alongside our squad we can help Danny reach his full potential.”

But another of the new signings, MacVeigh, already knows all about Southend having been with the club before joining Romford where he spent the last two seasons.

And Ward feels MacVeigh will prove to be another fine signing.

“Jack’s return is brilliant news,” said Ward.

“He knows the club and a lot of the group already which will help with his transition.

“But importantly his attitude to develop his game is something I’m looking forward to seeing over the coming seasons. I’m really excited to see him back at Warners Bridge.”

The third of the new signings, Walker, joined Southend from Winchester after relocating for work.

And Walker’s arrival has also delighted Ward.

“We’re looking forward to having Steven involved with the group," said Ward.

"He’s keen to progress his playing career and be part of something special.

"It’s a good match.”
