STEVEN Reid is interested in becoming Southend United manager, Echosport understands.
The Shrimpers are still looking to replace Sol Campbell who left the League Two club at the end of June.
And the highly-rated Reid is keen to being given a chance at Roots Hall.
The 39-year-old lined up for Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion as a player along with Republic of Ireland before embarking on a coaching career.
Reid has been first team coach at Reading and Crystal Palace before also coaching at AFC Wimbledon.
The former midfielder has also worked at West Bromwich Albion, where he had a spell as caretaker manager, as well as Scotland's national side.
