BARNET boss Darren Currie is the new favourite to be Southend United's next manager, according to the bookmakers.
Currie, who has been Bees boss since December 2018, saw his side beaten by Notts County in the National League play-offs this afternoon.
And the 45-year-old is now 6/4 to replace Sol Campbell in charge of the Shrimpers at Roots Hall.
Currie made 759 appearances during his playing career which included spells at Barnet, Wycombe Wanderers and Ipswich Town and the former winger also had a trial with the Shrimpers back in 2011.
Currie also had a short spell as Dagenham & Redbridge's caretaker manager in 2015 and Echosport understands he is definitely among the front-runners for the Blues job.
