SOUTHEND United have signed Barnsley winger Jordan Green on a six month loan deal.

The 25-year-old worked with new Shrimpers boss Mark Molesley while with Bournemouth at the start of his career.

And Green jumped at the chance to be reunited with Molesley at Roots Hall.

"I wanted to come here straight away so that's why it's happened so quickly,” said Green.

"There’s so many positives to the situation I can’t begin to tell you how many.

"I just want to get going and I’m excited to start playing under the gaffer.

“He knows what I'm good at, pressing, driving forward with the ball and my explosiveness.

"He was a big factor in my decision to come here and I’m just ready to work hard.

"I know League Two, I know what it takes to win games in League Two and that’s definitely something I’ll try and bring to the team."

Green is Molesley’s first signing as Shrimpers boss.

And he is pleased to have the winger on board.

"Jordan’s no stranger to me,” said Molesley.

“Bournemouth took him out of non-league so I think that shows his mentality.

"He went and earned his stripes in what can be an unforgiving level, non-league.

"Being a quick dynamic winger he would have been kicked about a bit so he’s got that little bit of aggression in him to win the ball back and take people on.

"I know what attributes he has and what he can bring to the table, and that’s hard work, endeavour and also excitement on the ball.

"I think he’s going to be really exciting for Southend fans to watch and I’m looking forward to working with him again."

The loan is subject to EFL and FA clearance.
