CARLISLE United manager Chris Beech does not expect Southend United’s players to be affected by the financial uncertainty surrounding the club.
Blues have been given another six weeks to pay off a tax bill of nearly £500,000.
But Beech believes that will not play a part in today’s game at Brunton Par.
“Their club is under more pressure than ours in terms of finance,” Beech told the club’s official website.
“You read and listen about a possible debt and what that could mean, and we’re hearing that they’ve been given until October to deal with that.
“Those things generally change anyway, they get extended time or different things happen.
“In terms of a football team – they’re professional football players that have been hurt last week and I imagine they’ve been working very hard to respond to that.
“But we just have to look after ourselves.”
Carlisle finished 18th in League Two last season and started the current campaign with a 3-0 defeat at Cambridge United.
The Cumbrians are one place above bottom of the table Blues in the early standings.
