SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley chose not to call on striker Charlie Kelman for tonight's EFL Trophy clash with Portsmouth amid interest from Queens Park Rangers.

The Championship club are believed to still be keen on the 18-year-old forward.

But Blues boss Mark Molesley did not give too much away in his after match interview.

"Charlie has been ticking over and training today," said Molesley.

"That's out of my control and his control too.

"We will see what the rest of the week brings but as far as I’m concerned he’s a Southend player and I look forward to having him around for training on Thursday and Friday."

And when asked if Kelman would play for Blues again, Molesley added: "Absolutely, unless I’m told otherwise. It will be good to have him available."

Kelman was also left out of the squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Crawley Town.
