SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley has welcomed news that Premier League are looking to help EFL clubs.

An initial offer of £50million has been rejected by the Football League.

But Molesley is pleased talks are taking place as clubs battle to survive during the coronavirus pandemic.

“In these times we all need to be looking at how we can help out and how people are going to survive,” said Molesley.

“It’s a welcomed from the EFl clubs I’m sure but I’m not aware of the full ins and outs of the package right now.

“What I do know is that it’s going to be much needed help and a lifeline really for all clubs.

“Football needs to survive this and we all need to stick together.

“I’m sure we will come out this alive and kicking but if this carries on like it is then teams are going to struggle, there’s no doubt about it.

“You can’t keep playing without any fans at our level, it doesn’t financially work for anyone.”
