MARK Molesley insists Southend United had no choice but to send Jordan Green back to Barnsley.

The winger's loan spell with the Shrimpers was cut short after he suffered ankle ligament damage against Morecambe last month.

The winger has since posted a picture of himself on social media seeming to show he is back in training with his parent club.

But Molesley stands by Blues' decision

"He saw a specialist and had a scan and his return to play was going to be six weeks minimum," said Molesley.

"He might well be out jogging or straight line running I’m not sure, I haven’t seen it myself.

"But he’s not our player so we had to be very careful and when a specialist and a scan supports that we have to follow their guidance.

"If we were to play him with the scan saying this and the specialist saying that there are probably insurance protocols we have to cover.

"We’ve been led by the specialists and the scan but I do really hope he gets back as quickly as he can.

"We were gutted we had to go down that road and lose him to that injury."
