BOWERS and Pitsea have postponed their next two fixtures after a member of their squad tested positive for coronavirus.

Bowers had been due to face to face Kingstonian today and Folkestone Invicta on Tuesday night.

But both matches have now been postponed.

A club spokesman said: "It is with regret that we have to announce that we have had a positive Covid test come back for a player within our first team.

"Having given the situation due care and consideration we feel that this Saturday and Tuesday’s game should not be played for the safety of all concerned.

"A number of players and staff are self-isolating and others have been for Covid tests.

"You would hope that the guidelines in place will have protected everyone but we just cannot be certain.

"With vulnerable members among players immediate families, with vulnerable volunteers and committee members and with a duty of care to follow government guidance we just cannot put people at risk.

"This virus is bigger than football and with stricter measures being imposed by the government and the implications that has on businesses, families and communities then this seems the most sensible course of action."
