SOUTHEND United manager Mark Molesley will be cutting out 'the negatives and noise' when the Shrimpers head to Salford City.

Bottom of the table Blues make the trip north having not won in nine outings so far this season.

But Molesley is eager to remain upbeat.

"The two previous performances before Saturday were positive and we’re starting to get more players back fit so things are going in a better direction," said the former Weymouth boss.

"We have to stick to our guns, our morals, values and beliefs.

"We need to cut out the negatives and the noise sometimes surrounding it too and fully focus on what we believe in."

The Shrimpers failed to impress in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Cheltenham Town at Roots Hall.

But Molesley is working tirelessly to help his team to improve.

"We weren’t at our best on Saturday and it’s up to us to find out why that was," said Molesley.

"On reflection, we’ve looked at the game with a bit more of a clear head and there are some clear and obvious things we need to be better at.

"We’ve had a good chat with the players, we’ve had a good training session and we’ve gone straight to work.

"The thing that makes me feel better is that we can fix the errors and we’ve shown we can do that.

"We’ll drink it up and the medicine is in finding out what went wrong and how to fix it."
