Close to a return - John White, Alan McCormack and Simeon Akinola
SOUTHEND United defender John White is back in training.
The 34-year-old centre-back has missed the last nine games with a hamstring injury.
But Blues boss Mark Molesley is happy to see White stepping up his return.
“John White joined in with the group this morning for a light session,” said Molesley.
“It was a real boost for everyone and we will pick his training up as the week goes on.”
And Molesley is also hopeful Simeon Akinola and Alan McCormack will soon be able to resume full training.
“We’re hoping Sim will join the squad nearer the end of the week and Alan McCormack as well not too long after that,” added Molesley.
