CONCORD Rangers host Welling United in this round of midweek fixtures, reports Leon Imber.

Danny Scopes’ men must shake off any disappointment they may have following their 5-4 penalty shootout defeat to Stevenage in the first round of the FA Cup.

After all, it was a great performance by the National League South side, who held the Boro to a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes of play.

The League Two side took the lead within the first half an hour.

Ex-Southend United left-back Ben Coker on target with his first goal in more than five years.

But Concord were not down for long, and thanks to Alex Wall got themselves back into the game just before the half time interval.

Little action followed until extra-time when Danny Newton put Stevenage back ahead, only to see the game levelled up by Odei Martin 10 minutes later.

It was Tosan Popo who made the all-important miss for Scopes’ side in the shoot-out and it is now key for the Concord boss to not let his players' heads drop.

Rangers’ last league outing saw them pick up a 4-1 victory against Dulwich Hamlet, so with the league now the sole focus, the Beach Boys can feel confident of making their way up the league standings in which they currently sit 15th.

Billericay Town were due to play Oxford City but the game has been postponed due to the latter’s involvement in the FA Cup against Northampton Town.
