SOUTHEND United are now five points from safety in League Two after relegation rivals Scunthorpe won 1-0 at Port Vale this evening.
Abo Eisa’s glorious first-half solo effort lifted the Iron out of the bottom two and saw them move further away from the Shrimpers.
Blues, who won 1-0 at Walsall on Saturday, remain bottom of the table and have a far worse goal difference than those above them.
But Mark Molesley's side will be looking to close the gap and still have 34 games left to do it.
