SOUTHEND United midfielder Alan McCormack is back in full training.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been out for two months with a calf problem.

And Blues boss Mark Molesley is pleased to see the Irishman stepping up his return to action.

"Alan’s aim was to always get back into training a bit more this week," said Molesley.

"We’re slowly building him up and he’s someone who has missed a lot of football.

"We need to be very careful with him but we can’t wait for him to be back.

"He’s a really good character with vast experience and he has everything we need at the moment.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming him back but we have to make sure it’s at the right time."

McCormack has made just one appearance since returning to Roots Hall in September.

And Molesley is not sure whether or not Saturday's game with Cambridge United will come too soon for the midfielder.

"Saturday might well be too soon for him but we will have to wait and see," added Molesley.
