MARK Molesley wants Southend United to show ‘how far they’ve come’ when they tackle second placed Cambridge United at Roots Hall tomorrow.

Blues go into the game on the back of their first win of the season, at Walsall on Saturday.

And Molesley is now demanding another strong display as the Shrimpers bid for back to back victories for the first time since October 2018.

“It’s another challenge but it’s one we’re eagerly anticipating and one we can’t wait to take on,” said Molesley.

“ We will give Cambridge the respect they deserve and they’re rightfully up towards the top of the League but it gives us a great chance to pit our wits against theirs and show how far we’ve come.”

Despite the win at the weekend Blues remain bottom of the table, five points from safety.

But Molesley is hopeful the victory against the Saddlers can prove to be a turning point for his side.

“The win was long overdue and it’s given us something to build on now.

“We should take a lot of confidence from it but of course we haven’t done anything yet.

“The hard work continues but the boys proved they have the fight and we will certainly need that again on Saturday.”
