SOUTHEND United’s nearest relegation rivals Stevenage were beaten 2-1 at home by Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.
Stevenage remain second from bottom in the table, three points above the Shrimpers.
Scunthorpe, who are immediately above the drop zone, drew 1-1 at home to Morecambe.
The Iron are now six points above the Shrimpers and still have a game in hand on Mark Molesley’s side.
