A positive COVID test in the Billericay Town camp meant that Concord Rangers’ 2-0 loss away at Tonbridge Angels took centre stage for Essex sides last night, reports Leon Imber.
The result made it six games in all competitions that Danny Scopes’ men have failed to win, and it is a record which sees the Beachboys wallow just above the relegation zone in the standings.
It very much is the case that when a team is down in the lower reaches of the table they run desperately short of luck, and that was the case against Tonbridge as Concord had a goal from Jack Bridge ruled out and a penalty shout waved away by the referee.
Both could have changed the complexity of the match but a 59th minute strike by Tom Parkinson and a 90th minute Ben Greenhalgh goal condemned the visitors to their fourth defeat in their last six matches.
