FORMER Southend United manager Sol Campbell has been interviewed for the Sunderland job.
Campbell spent eight months in charge of the Shrimpers before moving on in June.
And the ex England international has now held talks with the Black Cats about their vacant managerial role.
Despite the discussions, Campbell remains an outsider to replace Phil Parkinson at the Stadium of Light.
Former Concord Rangers boss Danny Cowley remains favourite for the job with the bookmakers.
