NILE Ranger is training with Southend United, Echosport understands.

The 29-year-old striker has not played in the Football League since leaving the Shrimpers back in January 2018.

But Ranger was back at Boots & Laces with Blues this morning and hinted as much by posting two pictures on his Snapchat story.

Ranger told Echosport back in February he would be willing to play for the Shrimpers for free and had recently been playing for non-league side Spalding United.

Ranger, who scored 10 goals in 49 games for Blues, has been dogged by controversy throughout his career and was regularly fined for poor time keeping while at Roots Hall.

The former Newcastle United striker also spent 10 weeks in prison while with the Shrimpers for online bank fraud.
